I owned a S-VHS VCR and literally ran it 'till the S-Video connection if the TV Y/C separator is hot and the one in the video player is not. In addition, I noted that I can change the video format (normal, fill, full) when in the component input mode of the TV and component output mode on the DVD player. Did not think I could do that. When using the progressive output of the DVD, I can not change it.
